Hi all,
For the Kerala schools project some work as to be done and would like
to get inputs from list members.
One specific activity to be done is creating a distribution for
schools. Ramakrishnan has suggested about Debian GNU/Linux based
distro with Graphical installer from Progeny. We need to create and
test it at the earliest. Ramakrishnan, can you provide
some more details on this. Also needs to make list of required apps.
It would be nice if we can get some inputs on how we can use
IT/Computers for the benefit of students. Information about Goa
experience may be a good starting point.
(Simply sending CDs with Free Software or just Installing it wont
help. We must help students understand why free software, by enjoying it.
In addition to replacing proprietory software from education
let us try to add some value to education(through free software).)
Comments on good softwares for education is also required
(We are looking into 8,9 and 10th std).
Varun, as a friend in school you inputs will be informative. If dont have
exams please share your thoughts in the issue.
Regards
arun.
